CES 2013: Intel presents the Haswell processors that will arrive in future Macs and could increase battery autonomy

During the last night Intel submitted la CES 2013 the 4th generation processors that will be launched this year on the market and will be included in the Macs prepared by the Apple company. Some of the new Intel processors reduce energy consumption extremely much, they only need 7 watts to work, and this in the conditions where the current processors Macbook Air-s need 17 watts. The other part, especially those of the 4th generation that have high frequencies, promise to offer approximately 9 hours of autonomy for laptops, so theoretically we could have Macs with autonomy similar to that of an iPad tablet.

The 4th generation Core processors are the first Intel chips built from the ground up with the Ultrabook in mind. We expect the tremendous advancements in lower-power Core processors, and the significant ramp of touch-based systems will lead to a significant new wave of convertible Ultrabooks and tablets that are thinner, lighter and, at the same time, have the performance required for more human-like interaction such as touch, voice and gesture controls.

This year Intel focused mainly on offering extremely energy-efficient processors and I'm glad to see that this company has finally understood the needs of ultrabook users. No one needed extremely high processor power on an ultrabook, we all want high autonomy and it seems that the new processors will provide this, but it remains to be seen how much the products that will have them will cost.
