Apple is being sued in Belgium by a group that protects the interests of consumers

Test-Aankoop is a Belgian group that tries to protect the interests of consumers, and yesterday its lawyers they submitted to a court in Belgium, a summons request addressed to the Apple company. The group claims that Apple does not respect the local legislation regarding the correct promotion of consumer rights regarding the guarantee of Apple products, the situation being similar to that in Italy. Apple was fined twice by the Italian authorities because it did not tell the customers that it benefits from a 2-year warranty for the products and promoted the service AppleCare + which extended the product warranty.

Exactly the same thing happens in Belgium, where Apple promotes its own services, not respecting the EU provisions regarding the warranty granted to products. Apple is not the only company that does not respect the law, but that matters less and I for one hope that Apple will receive a substantial fine from the Belgian authorities. Apple has a similar practice in several EU countries and unfortunately the company does not seem willing to change its way of promoting AppleCare+ and this could attract significant fines.
