This morning I had the pleasure of witnessing the launch Orange Cloud, a cloud service that the operator Orange Romania will make it available to a good part of its customers. In the video clip above you have the entire presentation of Orange Cloud made by Julien Ducarroz, CCO of Orange Romania. Orange Cloud is Orange's first cloud-type service and will offer free to customers who have an eligible subscription the possibility to access the service from a mobile terminal or a desktop to save their documents, photos, movies, music, files, or contacts and calendar with meetings. If you have used systems of this kind before, then you already know that uploading a file to Orange Cloud will make that file available on all the terminals with which you access the system, but from iDevices we can only upload pictures and movies that are in the Camera Roll .

The system will be accessible from mobile terminals and desktops, special applications will be launched for iOS and Android OS, and dedicated programs will be available for OS X and Windows. Of course Orange Cloud it will also be accessible through a web browser, so you will be able to upload and download files including through this method. Well, I told you how to get to it, and now I'll tell you what matters most. To begin with, all eligible subscribers will receive up to 10 GB of free space for one year, and mobile traffic made through Orange Cloud it will be free. Yes, you read that right, the upload/download traffic made through Orange Cloud will not be charged or deducted from the monthly allowance, so you will be able to do whatever you want without worry. For those who do not have subscriptions or eligible options, there is the option to buy access to Orange Cloud with 10 GB of storage space for only 1.5 euros per month, and those who want more (regardless of the subscription), can increase space to 50GB or 150 GB for 5 or 15 euros monthly.

Orange Cloud gives you the opportunity to store and access anything, and the interesting part is that the files you can upload must have a maximum size of 2 GB, so it is unlikely that you will have problems finding something useful to upload. Unlike other cloud services available in the wider world, Orange Cloud offers you the possibility to upload large files, it offers you free traffic for the period of use and I think that these two things will convince a lot of people to try it. Orange Cloud is affordable on this page and if you have an existing account on the Orange website, you can log in with it.

To be honest, I wasn't interested in cloud services until now, but having them available Orange Cloud with free traffic, I'm starting to think that nothing else is really worth trying. Orange recommends using a 4G connection for fast file uploads, but any connection is good, just that the results of use are conditioned by the transfer speed you have. For now, Orange Cloud can only be accessed from desktops or Android terminals, the application for iOS will be available in the App Store during this week.

UPDATED: The Orange Cloud application is available in the App Store.
