In the the audio conference for the presentation of the financial results for Q2 2013, Peter Oppenheimer announced that App Store- is now the host of over 850.000 applications for iDevices, 350.000 of them being specially developed for iPad tablets. 45 billion downloads have been recorded from the application store since its launch until now, and here we are only talking about unique downloads, not taking into account updates made for applications or re-downloads made on the same terminals.
The record number of total downloads explains the more than 800 downloads that are made every second from the company's App Store Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, and if you do a quick calculation, you will realize that every month Apple registers over 2 billion downloads, and by the end of the year it will exceed 60 billion downloads registered for the App Store. The virtual application store is accessed by over half a million iDevices, so the download numbers are as normal as possible for such an ecosystem.
