Facebook becomes a publisher of games for mobile terminals

Facebook, the company that owns the social network of the same name, announced at the end of last month that it will become a publisher of games for mobile terminals, platforms iOS si AndroidOS being taken into account. What does this mean? Well, Facebook will help small companies, without large financial resources, to finish the development of interesting games and launch them in Google Play or App Store. Recently Rovio made the decision to do exactly the same thing and launched two games in the App Store, they being developed by other companies, but the profit being shared.

Mobile Games Publishing is a new pilot program to help small and medium-sized developers take their mobile games global. Through the program, we will work with select game developers and provide promotional support for their games in placements across our mobile apps.

Facebook will take a part of the money generated from the sale of the titles, the company having so far signed 10 collaboration agreements, one even with Gameloft. Although Gameloft is one of the largest producers of games for iDevices, the agreement most likely has the role of giving credibility to the system thought by Facebook and nothing more. It will be months until Facebook launches games in the App Store, but when it does we will all know and they will be undeniably interesting.
