Google intends to compete with iMessage, WhatsApp Messenger and other similar services

Google has for several months an application called Google Hangouts, allowing users to have text conversations, share files, all using an internet connection. The application is used by many people, and in 4.4 Android KitKat will have including the option to send SMS or MMS, offering practically the same basic functions as iMessage. The intention of those from Google is to compete with the service of those from Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, but also with applications such as WhatsApp Messenger, so Hangouts could have a central role in the presentation and promotion of Android 4.4.

Given that WhatsApp Messenger begins to lose users, especially in the US, those from Google could take advantage of the opportunity with an application already integrated in Android, it works on the basis of a Google account, regardless of its nature. Considering these news, the only function missing from the Google application is the ability to share video clips, but the company intends to offer this service through a future update. Google Hangouts is available for free in the App Store and you may soon be using it often.
