Apple is preparing to launch a mobile payment system using Apple IDs

It has been rumored for years that Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is going to allow us to make mobile payments using a Apple ID and a card attached to our accounts, and now it seems that Americans are getting closer and closer to achieving this goal. According to the American publication Wall Street Journal, the senior vice president of Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), who leads the division that administers the services iTunes met with the managers of some companies specialized in mobile payments, the discussions centering on the possible entry of the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), on this market.

Apple Inc. laying the groundwork for an expanded mobile-payments service, leveraging its growing base of iPhone and iPad users and the hundreds of millions of credit cards on file through its iTunes stores. Eddy Cue, Apple's iTunes and App Store chief and a key lieutenant of Chief Executive Tim Cook, has met with the technology industry.

Apple intends to give us the opportunity to use card information saved in Apple IDs or iCloud Keychain to make payments in its Apple Stores around the world, but the system will also expand to other stores. The payment system would be similar to the one already used for iTunes purchases, with Apple most likely including the fingerprint reader to allow payment authorization. iOS 7 is already able to scan codes of receipts, vouchers or transport tickets for storage in the Passbook application, so expanding the functionality for direct payments would not be a problem.

It is not known yet when Apple intends to launch this system, but it probably won't take long until we see it presented.
