Over 1 billion smartphones were sold in 2013

2013 was a very good year for smartphone manufacturers, again according to some data published today, 1,004 billion smartphones were sold worldwide last year. You can see in the image above how much each smartphone manufacturer sold in the last year, Samsung si Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), occupying the first two positions at a very large distance from Huawei, who was in second place. Samsung represented 31.3% of total smartphone sales, while Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), managed to sell only half of Samsung's total.

Although it was placed second in this top, the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), registered a decrease in the global market share, and this in the conditions in which it sold more terminals. Terminal manufacturers Android had higher increases than Apple during this year and this can be seen both from the initial table with total sales for 2013, and from the second chart with sales for Q4 2013. Practically, the growth rate of iPhone sales is lower than the growth rate of smartphone sales, and if the trend continues, then in a few years Apple will lose its current market position.

Finally, it is worth mentioning that a third of the total number of iPhones was sold only in Q4 2013.
