The European Commission asks Apple and Google to solve the problems of in-app purchases for applications

In-app purchases represent the most profitable method to monetize the applications available in App Store si Google Play, but they are also a big headache for Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), or Google. Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), was forced to return large sums of money to thousands of customers because of them, was sued and lost a lawsuit based on the problems of the in-app purchases system, and now the European Commission is forcing them to participate in a meeting designed to provide new solutions for this problem.

Commissioner Neven Mimica, responsible for Consumer Policy said: "Consumers and in particular children need better protection against unexpected costs from in-app purchases. National enforcement authorities and the European Commission are discussing with industry how to address this issue which not only causes financial harm to consumers but can also put at stake the credibility of this very promising market. Coming up with concrete solutions as soon as possible will be a win-win for all."

The European Commissioner responsible for establishing consumer protection, Neven Mimica, stated that in-app purchases are dangerous for children who do not realize that they are making very large expenses by buying various bonuses available in applications, and the current system generates financial losses for consumers. In this idea, the European Commission asks companies to solve the problems related to the false promotion of freemium games, those related to the authorization of payment methods and to simplify the process of returning money.

Considering that we are talking about such an important entity, it is clear that in the near future changes will be implemented for these systems, now it remains to be seen how long it will take until they are actually implemented.
