4G in Romania - what subscriptions and options are needed?

  Since the morning you know that Orange, Cosmote si Vodafone  they launched the new 4G networks in Romania. We talked about 4G coverage in Romania and I told you under what conditions is the iPhone 5 compatible with the new 4G networks, and now we are talking about what you need to connect to the operators' networks. Unfortunately, you will not be able to access it the 4G network in Romania just because you have one smartphone/tablet compatible/4G compatible and there is 4G coverage in your location, so you will have enough headaches ahead.

Orange 4G subscriptions and internet options

  If Orange Romania access to 4G network is done by Pantera subscriptions, all 4 now closed or renewed allowing you to access 4G network smoothly. Apart from these, you can use one of Net options together with your subscription to have access to the 4G network and if you have a laptop or a tablet, then a Colibri subscription gives you access to the network. If you have a prepaid card, then you can access the network with one of the internet options dedicated to you.

  At Orange there is the option of using a second card with your subscription to use internet traffic on a tablet and for old subscribers it may be necessary to change the current card to be able to connect to the network. Finally, it is worth mentioning that Orange is the only operator that limits the 4G internet speed in 2 steps, the first to 30 Mbps download and the second to 80 Mbps download, the second being part of the option Superfast 4G which must be purchased separately.   Orange is the only operator that offers customers the opportunity to test the 4G network for free for 90 days. More precisely, all Orange subscribers with 4G terminals receive free 1 GB of internet traffic in the 4G network for 90 days.

Vodafone 4G subscriptions and internet options

  If Vodafone Romania access to 4G network is done by RED subscriptions, all 3 available in the offer of the operator having data traffic at speeds up to 150 Mbps. Vodafone does not offer prepaid customers access to 4G network through dedicated options, and for subscribers with smartphones there is a dedicated extra option which costs €5 per month and allows you to use it subscription traffic in the 4G network. For tablet owners there is a dedicated offer, and for those with laptops there is another. Of course, to be sure that you can connect to the network, you may need to change your card, or activate an additional option.

Cosmote 4G subscriptions and internet options

  Finally reaching Cosmote, the company offers Cosmote Free L and Cosmote Free XL subscriptions to provide access to its own 4G network. Access is allowed to new subscribers with smartphones without additional costs, but those who have an existing subscription will have to pay an extra option of €5 per month called Connect Extension+ to be able to use their internet traffic from the subscription at 4G speeds. Finally, we have tablet and laptop owners who can choose one of Connect Unlimited subscriptions +22/30 to use internet traffic in the 4G network.

  Cosmote does not offer access to the 4G network to prepaid card users, and to be sure that you can use the network, a change of card may be needed.
