AIM will no longer work in iChat for users of OS X Lion or earlier

iChat is the application offered in the past by the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for Mac owners who wanted to use it AIM, Yahoo! and not only. Starting with OS X Mountain Lion Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), replaced the application iChat cu Messages, and starting from June 30 all those who run OSX Lion 10.7.2 or older they will not be able to use AIM Chat  in the iChat application. Fortunately, everyone who uses an email address @mac.com will not be affected by this change, so if you are running an old version you know how you will be affected.

The good part for everyone is that Apple offers the possibility to update for free OS X Mavericks, if your Mac is compatible with it, so in the end you may still be able to use AIM. If you still cannot update to this version of OS X, then you will have to create a new ID for AIM using the AOL website. Considering that almost 50% of Macs run OS X Mavericks, probably few people will be affected by this problem.
