This is how users discover applications from the App Store

Discovering apps from virtual app stores is one of the biggest problems for app developers, and a new study proves exactly why. Although Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), si Google make sustained efforts to promote the important applications of the developers with whom they collaborate, in reality most of the users discover the applications based on some recommendations. According to the graph above, generated by the OFcom company, 77% of users discover new applications through the recommendations of friends or family, while only 38% discover them thanks to promotional campaigns in stores.

Very far from the first two positions, we find the recommendations made on social networks and the advertising campaigns carried out on websites or in other applications. Practically, this study reveals the fact that a recommendation made by a friend is much more important than one made on a website or a recommendation made by a manufacturer, and this should not surprise anyone. It is normal for users to trust close people and not strangers, developers having to become much more inventive to promote their applications.
