OS X Yosemite and iOS 8 allow accepting and initiating phone calls on iPad and Mac

One of the new and interesting functions designed by Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), for OS X Yosemite si iOS 8 gives us the opportunity to accept or initiate phone calls directly from an iPad tablet or a Mac. As long as all three types of products Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), are connected to same WiFi network, a Mac or an iPad tablet will allow you to answer calls, send SMS/SMS messages or initiate calls.

Sometimes when your iPhone rings, it's not where you are. Maybe it's charging in another room. Or it's buried in your backpack. But your Mac or iPad is sitting right there. Now you can make and receive phone calls on those devices as long as your iPhone running iOS 8 is on the same Wi-Fi network. Incoming calls show the caller's name, number, and profile picture. Just click or swipe the notification to answer, ignore, or respond with a quick message. And making a phone call from your iPad or Mac is just as easy. Simply tap or click a phone number in Contacts, Calendar, or Safari. It all works with your existing iPhone number, so there's nothing to set up.

It doesn't matter how far or close the iPhone is from you, but as long as all three types of devices are connected to the same WiFi network and the same iCloud account, the technology will work without problems. On the iPad or Mac we will see the name of the person calling us and we will be able to answer/reject the call or send a message, the calls being initiated through the Contacts, Calendar or even Safari applications.

Everything happens through a technology that Apple has not yet officially detailed, but only OS X Yosemite offers this functionality on Macs that have a built-in microphone.
