Yesterday we talked about Skype 5.0 for iPhone, an update dedicated to the Skype application that aims to bring a multitude of news for users, a complete change of the UI being among them. This evening the update was officially launched by the Microsoft company for all iPhone owners, it can be done right now from App Stores around the world.

  • Overall performance improvements – faster start up and fluid animations.
  • A new modern hub centric design putting recent conversations first – just swipe to see your favorite people or contacts.
  • Richer and more reliable messaging: create groups, share photos (even to offline contacts) and video messages.
  • In-app notifications for quick conversation switching, and in-app controls to manage notifications.
  • A new simplified, modern voice and video calling experience.

Although the iPhone version brings a lot of news for us, the iPad version will be updated in the future to include them. Skype for iPhone is available for free in App Store.
