iOS and Android OS dominate the global smartphone market

Q3 2014 was not one of the company's best fiscal quarters Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, with iOS market share declining in key markets such as the US or Japan and seeing minor consolidation in Europe, China or Australia. In this sense, the global market share of the iOS operating system fell from 13.4% to 12.3% over the course of a year, while the global market share of the Android operating system increased from 81.4% to 83.6 % in the same time period.

Both operating systems control 95.9% of the entire global smartphone market, with the remaining 4.1% being controlled primarily by Microsoft with Windows Phone and subsidiarily by Blackberry. Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), and Google managed to make two extremely popular operating systems, Android having the great advantage of being free to use by manufacturers, the very large number of terminals sold in Asia generating this colossal market share.

Although Apple has long lost the battle for market share in the smartphone segment, it remains to be seen how it will fare in the future against a seemingly unstoppable Android.
