Winterboard - here's how to solve the crash problem on iOS 8 - iOS 8.1, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Winterboard  Winterboard is the only universal platform for iOS 8 - iOS 8.1 which allows the installation and use of themes on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, including the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus with high resolutions. Unfortunately, after installing the application some users quickly discovered that it cannot be used to activate the themes available in Cydia for our terminals and compatible with iOS 8. It seems that the simple attempt to activate a theme installed in the devices resulted in a crash immediately of the Springboard and entering the terminal in Safe Mode.

Winterboard solving the iOS 8 crash problem – iOS 8.1

Winterboard generates a Springboard crash because it is not 100% compatible, for now, with Pangu jailbreak and the new versions of the operating system for which this solution was developed. In this idea, the only method to solve the problem involves deactivating the SummerBoard function present in the main menu of the Winterboard application, just below the menu for choosing the themes to be used. By deactivating Summerboard you will be able to activate any of the themes installed from Cydia for your iDevices, they can then be used without problems if they were made to be compatible with the new versions of iOS.

SummerBoard is a module developed especially for old versions of iOS and for themes that were thought to be used mainly on old terminals without hardware powerful enough to support them. Deactivating this option will prevent the running of old themes on your terminals, so before downloading a theme from Cydia it is necessary to check whether or not it is compatible with Summerboard and if it is, you will have to ignore it. In general, most of the themes released in recent years do not require this module to be activated, so theoretically you should have no problems after deactivating it, but it is good to be cautious and avoid future headaches by carefully checking beforehand.
