The App Store sets a download record in November 2014

App Store downloads

Only two months after its launch on the market, iPhone 6 si 6 iPhone Plus they helped App Storeto set a new record in terms of downloads. We are of course talking about the downloads of free and paid applications, the month of November being the best in its history of over 5 years.

In the image above you have a graph made by Fiksu and notice the growth generated by the launch of the two new iPhone terminals. Practically from September to November, the downloads of applications from the App Store increased by 50%, and this is based on the desire of users to move their applications to the new products.

Although the data covers only the US App Store, Fiksu claims that the top 200 of the most popular free applications recorded 8.1 million downloads in November. The figure is 2.6 million downloads higher than the one recorded in September, the impact of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus being as clear as possible.

Although downloads have increased, the revenue generated by users has decreased significantly compared to the same period last year. More precisely, each App Store user generated $1.58 for Apple in November, 12% less than in the same period last year.

This decrease denotes the fact that the large number of downloads was not made for new paid titles, but mostly represented only re-downloads of old applications. In this idea, Apple still has a lot to do to increase revenue for the App Store, but it probably has strategies prepared for this purpose.
