NVIDIA Tegra X1 humiliates the A8X chip in performance - CES 2015

NVIDIA Tegra X1 - CES 2015

NVIDIA Tegra X1 is the latest face presented by NVIDIA within CES 2015, being dedicated to future Android terminals. successor NVIDIA Tegra K1 comes with double performance for mobile terminal manufacturers, and the most interesting part is that it offers a major increase in performance compared to the A8X chip of the iPad Air 2.

NVIDIA Tegra X1 is based on an ARM processor with 8 cores that uses the 64-bit architecture, 4GB of RAM, plus a Maxwell graphics card with 256 cores to provide high performance. Although the chip was designed to work on tablets, it will be usable in smartphones thanks to an efficient heat dissipation system.

As you can see from the image below, NVIDIA Tegra X1 offers double performance compared to the A8X chip in iPad Air 2, a news not very good for Apple. Although the Cupertino tablet was the fastest mobile terminal in the world, at CES 2015 it was dethroned by a chip that is not yet available on the market.

NVIDIA Tegra X1 vs A8X - CES 2015

NVIDIA Tegra X1 – the king of performance for mobile terminals

NVIDIA Tegra X1 it is so powerful that it can run videos at 4K resolution at 65 FPS, none of its competitors being able to achieve such a feat. Those from NVIDIA increased the number of cores of the graphics card from 192 in Tegra K1 to 256 in Tegra X1, and the increase in performance is spectacular.

Although NVIDIA Tegra X1 offers enormous processing power for Android terminal manufacturers, it remains to be seen if they will know how to use it. NVIDIA generally offered powerful chips, but Android always knew how to bring them to their knees, no matter which mobile terminal manufacturer had the courage to implement them.

NVIDIA Tegra X1 is now in production and will be released on the market in 2015.
