One of Apple's partners that produces some chips for iDevices reports a record profit

TSMC profit

For iPhone 6 si 6 iPhone Plus the company contracted new partners in order to manufacture chips dedicated to these terminals, as it needs an impressive number of components for them. TSMC is one of these partners, and for Q4 2014 the Taiwanese company recorded an 80% increase in profit thanks to the orders placed by those from Apple.

According to rumors that appeared in recent months, Apple ordered 60% of the production of A8 chips from TSMC, and this gave the Taiwanese a record profit for a year-end quarter. In general, almost all Apple partners register very high profits based on the contracts concluded with the American company, but most of the big receipts are made around the winter holidays when many iDevices are sold.

TSMC, the world's largest contract chip maker by revenue, said Thursday that net profit for the three months ended Dec. 31 was 79.99 billion New Taiwan dollars (US$2.51 billion), up from NT$44.81 billion a year earlier.

TSMC is currently the largest producer of chips for electronic products, and this is based on the revenues it had in Q4 2014, which totaled 2.51 billion dollars. TSMC produces the current A8 chips using a 20nm manufacturing process, helping Apple to save energy in iDevices and provide them with high performance.

Pin the future TSMC will produce all the chips A9X dedicated to the iPad tablet that will be launched this year, but could also be involved in the production of chips A10 for iPhone 7 or S2 chips for Apple Watch.
