Apple reminds developers about the obligation to develop 64-bit applications

64 bit App Store applications

During the last year the company Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), asked developers to develop 64-bit applications for publishing in App Store, this requirement becoming mandatory from February 1, 2015. Last night, those from Cupertino again sent a reminder to the developers regarding this obligation, and you can see it in the image above.

According to the terms Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),, all new applications sent for publication in App Store after February 1, they must be compatible with the 64-bit architecture, otherwise they will not be published. The existing applications in the store will not be affected by this provision, but starting from June 1, any update for them will have to contain compatibility with the 64-bit platform.

Mandating the development of applications on the 64-bit architecture will require improving the performance of existing applications in the App Store, but it will take some time until updates appear.
