One of the most popular films of the Sundance film festival was filmed using only the iPhone 5S (Video)

Tangerines is one of the popular movies of Sundance Film Festival, and in case you haven't found out yet, it was filmed entirely using three terminals iPhone 5S. The application came to the aid of Apple products FiLMiC Pro, three stands and a series of lenses that can be attached to the company's terminals Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC),. Director Sean Baker created this film and he argued that the use of terminals iPhone 5S it was based on the attempt to generate attention from the media, the low budget of the film, but also the fact that they allowed discreet filming in public.

It seems that including one of the actors who played in the film he was quite reluctant about the ability of iPhone terminals to record great images, but in the end he was pleasantly impressed with the result. Of course, the filming team did not reveal the fact that they only used iPhone 5S terminals until after the preview of the film at the Sundance Film Festival, and this was in order not to create preconceptions about its quality.

iPhones were chosen not just as a cost cutting measure but also to allow them to shoot in public places (such as the LA Metro subway and bus line) without permits or permissions. It was revealed that the LA city bus driver called the cops on them because a filmed argument looked "too real" during a scene which took place on the bus line.

Having said that, Apple's iPhones are back in the spotlight in a good way, and perhaps Baker's achievement will motivate other directors to follow suit.
