Apple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), is developing its own social network and this after just a few years ago the American company launched one the experimental social network called Ping, she proving to be a humiliating failure for those from Cupertino. The new social network designed by Apple will be available exclusively on the platform iOS and will be centered mainly on groups dedicated to the various lifestyles of people.
The application for iOS will monitor people's activities with the help of fitness sensors, and based on the collected information will help users get in touch with people in their vicinity who have similar interests. The social network designed by Apple is described in a patent called Lifestyle-Based Social Groups, the name being as suggestive as possible regarding its future functionality.
Techniques for lifestyle-based social groups are described. A user device can learn movement patterns of the user device. Based on the movement pattern, and a user activity history, a computer system can determine a lifestyle of a user, or a meaning of a location. The system can create a social group based on the lifestyle and the meaning of location. The system can designate the lifestyle or meaning as a theme of the social group. The social group can be an ad hoc social network. For example, the social group can be created without an explicit user request, can be anonymous, and can be lifestyle and location based.
Totul is based on information about our lifestyles, where we are and the interests of others, so a computer will decide which people we should contact to chat or have fun. The Apple system will only offer recommendations to meet new users and will create ad hoc social groups to allow us to interact with each other, the changes in our lifestyle affecting including the way we are seen by the social network.
Basically, Apple wants a social network for people who are always active and wants to collect as much data as possible about people's lives, and this social network can fulfill everything related to the complete monitoring of iDevice owners. Of course, from the simple presentation of an idea to the realization of a social network is a long way, but at the moment Apple does not really need a social network.
