Apple dominates Samsung in US smartphone sales

Apple Samsung salesApple Lossless Audio CODEC (ALAC), dominates Samsung in smartphone sales in the US, the American market analysis company called ComScore publishing data to support its claims yesterday. In the attached image you can see that Apple managed to increase its advantage over Samsung in terms of local smartphone sales, those from Cupertino having a market share of 43.1%, 1.8% higher than at the beginning of this year.

In contrast to Apple's evolution, Samsung lost 0.7% of its market share at the beginning of the year, although this includes the period in which the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge were launched. The only manufacturer in the top 5 that managed to increase its market share is LG, the Korean company managing to add another 0.4% to its US market share.

The company saw a 1.8 percent increase in market share this time around, going from 41.3 percent in January to 43.1 percent in April. Of the top 5, LG is the only other manufacturer to see an increase, rising from 8 percent to 8.4 percent. Samsung, Motorola, and HTC all three saw a decline in market share. Samsung, still ranked number two, fell from 29.3 percent to 28.6 percent.

In terms of operating systems, Android's market share decreased by 1.1% while iOS's market share increased by 1.8%, but this was expected considering that most Android terminal manufacturers were in decrease practically, the US seems not to be that interested in Android smartphones at this time of the year, although some very interesting ones have been launched.

For several years now, Apple has been the undisputed leader of the US smartphone market, and as things stand, there is still no company that can steal its "crown", at least locally.
