Samsung was sued because of pre-installed applications in smartphones

Samsung bloatware ChinaSamsung has been sued in China over pre-installed applications, so-called bloatware, in smartphones sold on the local market, with some consumer protection groups acting on their behalf to stop such practices.

According to the lawsuit, some Samsung smartphones have no less than 44 pre-installed applications, and users do not receive information about the methods by which they can uninstall these applications, as they take up a lot of space in the products.

Moreover, the consumer protection groups claim that some of them also generate unsolicited data traffic, so that some users found themselves with additional costs in subscriptions without knowing what exactly generated that data traffic from their terminals.

We hope it will force other companies in the sector to end the unreasonable, but common, practice of pre-installing apps without telling consumers. This is something that is very much necessary for the healthy development of the whole industry.

To be honest, this problem also exists in the case of the Apple company, but unlike Android terminals, Apple does not allow the deletion of the native applications of the operating system, moreover, it does not allow the inclusion of some of them in folders created in the main applications screen .

The problem of bloatware has existed for years and years, and apart from manufacturers who install their own applications in smartphones, there are mobile phone operators who do the same, so in the end users receive a lot of applications that they do not need.

Unfortunately, a lawsuit in China will not solve this problem globally, but maybe this will be a warning sign for all those who install so many unwanted applications in smartphones or tablets.
