iPhone 7 – A10 production starts in March 2016

iPhone 7 chip A10iPhone 7 is to be launched by Apple in 2016, and today we learn that its partner TSMC will initiate a test production round for the future product in March next year to send the first components to Apple for testing.

TSMC would produce the new A10 chip exclusively for Apple using a 16nm manufacturing process. The information is somewhat hard to believe since the current A10 chip is produced using a 14nm FinFET manufacturing process, and giving it up would be a setback.

Although the iPhone 7 will be officially launched only in the fall of 2016, TSMC will start the production process of the A10 chip in March, but only to convince those from Apple that it can meet their production requirements.

At the moment, TSMC and Samsung produce the A9 chip of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, while TSMC also produces the A8 and A8X chips for Apple. Next year, TSMC wants to become the sole manufacturer of the A10 chip, but it remains to be seen if it will succeed.

Repel Samsung, TSMC has made Apple's exclusive 16-nanometer manufacturing process A10 processor orders, mass production in March next year cast film, future revenues and profitability are expected to continue a record high.

Samsung and TSMC are in a continuous "battle" to win orders from Apple for the production of chips for iDevices, and the iPhone 7 is the next "war".

To be honest, I find it hard to believe that Apple will choose anything other than a 14nm manufacturing process for the A10 chip, but anything is possible when we're talking about Apple.
