Facebook warns users monitored by governments

Facebook government monitoring warningFacebook is starting to warn users whose accounts are the target of attacks sponsored by various governments of countries around the world, whether those accounts were hacked by hackers, or whether they are just the target of attacks designed to compromise them.

In the image above you can see the notification that Facebook will send to a user whose account it is the target of a government-sponsored attack, or whose account was hacked by a government sponsored hacker.

Facebook claims that these types of attacks are much more dangerous than the usual ones for stealing account data and that it tries to protect users much more effectively, this implies a recommendation to activate the 2-step login system for Facebook.

Considering the importance of Facebook accounts through which people communicate or send pictures, various intelligence agencies are certainly very interested in obtaining data from them, so they initially compromise the PCs or mobile terminals of the targets, then accessing the Facebook accounts.

The security of people's accounts is paramount at Facebook, which is why we constantly monitor for potentially malicious activity and offer many options to proactively secure your account. Starting today, we will notify you if we believe your account has been targeted or compromised by an attacker suspected of working on behalf of a nation-state.

From now on, Facebook will monitor much more closely what happens in its social network and will start to warn users about attacks, recommending them to completely change the products they use to access the social network.

Facebook is one of the companies accused of constantly cooperating with various government agencies, and this move is to show us that it distances itself from intelligence agencies, but that does not mean that it does not voluntarily provide data.
