Apple is developing a virtual reality system

Apple has a special team of engineers who develop virtual reality and augmented reality systems within its laboratories in Cupertino, the team being secret until recently when the press found out about its existence.

This is Apple's engineering team tested various headsets for virtual reality together with other technologies designed to bring the real world into a virtual environment that can be experienced by users in a completely new way.

According to an American publication, several hundred employees work in this secret division within Apple, a multitude of experts in virtual reality have been employed over time, many of them even coming from Microsoft's rivals.

Apple bought the company Lytro in the past and recently one called Flyby, the first having virtual and augmented reality software that combine real world images with virtual images to create an experience that is not offered by other similar systems.

Those from Flyby also worked with Google for the development of virtual reality systems, they created 3D sensors that allowed the mapping of objects or cameras from the real world to be visible in virtual reality applications run on smartphones.

So far the team of Apple employees assembled multiple prototypes of virtual reality headsets, some being similar to Oculus Rift or Hololens, various configurations being tested by Apple employees, mostly inspired by the Oculus Rift.

The team that develops virtual reality and augmented reality systems was formed at the beginning of 2015, and if at the moment there are several hundred employees working on this project, then it is clear that Apple is very interested in it.

Apple has a multitude of patents for virtual reality and augmented reality systems, but it remains to be seen what will be transformed from a patent into a real product, and whether everything will be profitable or not for those at Apple.
