In 2015, Apple bought 21% of the processors produced for smartphones

2015 was a very good year for the Apple company, it registered a record sales of iDevices globally, thanks to a sales growth strategy that brought it new customers in China and other developing countries.

As part of the increase in sales, the Apple company had to produce even more smartphones, so in 2015 it bought 21% of the total production of processors dedicated to smart phones, so 1 out of 5 processors of this type were sold to Apple .

Considering that this market generated revenues of 20 billion dollars for manufacturers, the Apple company spent 4 billion dollars only for processors dedicated to its iPhone terminals, exactly half compared to those from Qualcomm.

Qualcomm is the largest supplier of processors for smartphones, totaling 42% of the market, most Android smartphones being launched on the market with processors from this manufacturer, the rest being bought by MediaTek and others.

The tablet processor market generated revenue of $2.7 billion in 2015, so Apple spent $900 million on these components, quite a large figure for the tens of millions of iPad tablets sold in 2015.
