Instagram launched last night a two-step authentication system for users who use its image sharing network, the American company trying to offer improved security for those who log in from multiple terminals.
This two-step authentication system implemented by Instagram allows a phone number to be attached to the account that is used by the user, a code being sent to that phone number each time the login is attempted, it being used instead of the password to get access to the account on a new device.
The security measure imposed by the Instagram company is based on the problems that many people had with stolen accounts, some stars from the USA going through the same situation, so now it offers the possibility to completely secure the account using a phone number.
Those from Instagram are not the first to offer such functionality for their own service through the application available for iPhone, Apple, Google, Facebook and various other companies have been offering the same security system for more than five years, so Instagram is only reaching them after.
Although Instagram has implemented the two-step authentication system in the US, it is not yet known how long it will be before it will be available in Romania.
