Clarius – the first medical ultrasound scanner for iPhone

Clarius the first ultrasonic scanner for iPhone and Android terminals, being able to allow doctors to treat patients in isolated areas of the planet where such medical devices are not normally available in hospitals or clinics.

Clarius is designed to connect to iPhone or Android smartphones and display in a dedicated application images recorded by its sensors, it works to a large extent like a normal ultrasound scanner that a modern hospital has in endowment

Being much cheaper than a hospital device that can cost up to 25.000 dollars, the scanner Clarius it can be used for a limited set of procedures such as visualization of blockages for nerves or some blood vessels, or guiding injections given to patients.

All images recorded by Clarius they are saved in a dedicated application that can be installed on iPhone terminals or Android smartphones, so that doctors can very quickly share information with each other using an Internet connection.

Physicians have been asking for a portable ultrasound system that works with their iPhone for some time. The challenge has been to make an affordable device that is small enough to carry around and that also produces great images. I'm happy to say we've succeeded in creating a product that will enable more clinicians to use ultrasound anywhere to improve patient care. It's as easy to use as a mobile phone camera.

For now, it is not known how much Clarius would cost when it will be put on sale, after the approval of the American authorities, but it can revolutionize mobile medicine because it gives doctors the opportunity to see in the field what is happening in the patients' bodies.
