The first 3D printed watch entirely made of plastic

Last year, the Swiss engineer Christoph Laimer printed the first 3D watch, entirely from plastic. To create this product, he introduced its design and concept into a 3D printer.

The components in the printed watch are made of plastic, in addition to the metal that fixes all the elements. The 3D framed clock is only able to work for 30 minutes, but the Swiss praises the fact that during this time, the clock works without temporal interruptions. Big deal, I say, for a 3D printed watch made of plastic.

But the Swiss didn't think of everything, and, besides what I told you, the watch would still be too bulky to fit on the wrist, it would also seem to be too big for the pocket.

What I personally thought was very cool is the fact that anyone with a 3D printer can make their own 3D plastic watch. Laimer made the source files available to a print outlet in Autodesk 3D, where the model can be downloaded for free.

However, let's not deny the fact that this innovative project is an example of a colossal first step for watchmakers, hoping to make their work accessible to a much wider audience.
