4 great new features of Android N that do not exist in the iPhone

Yesterday the Google company officially announced Android N, the next major version of the operating system Android, it is currently in the process of beta testing and development with a view to launch, its most important functions having already been presented by those from Mountain View.

Android N it has been awaited for some time by many users on the planet, and based on the functions it offers, it is easy to understand why there is so much anticipation for it, the Google company also offering some functions that currently do not exist in iPhone terminals.

Displaying two applications in the same screen - multi-window support

Android N split-screen multitasking

Starting with iOS 9, Apple offers the possibility of running two applications on the same screen of an iPad tablet, but of course iPhone terminals do not benefit from such functionality without jailbreak, not even the iPhone 6S Plus which has a 5.5 inch screen.

Those from Google thought that users can enjoy such a function in their own devices, so in Android N they natively offer the possibility to use several applications on the same smartphone screen, some terminals have had functions for some time of this kind offered.

Instant Apps

Google Instant Apps

I talked to you last night about the Instant Apps system and I told you that it is meant to revolutionize the way we use applications on smartphones through the innovative way that Google thought for Android users.

The system is based on a service launched some time ago, allowing parts of some applications to run in terminals before the full application is downloaded, Google dividing the applications into its servers and delivering them to smartphones as web pages.

The applications partially tested by users can then be installed in the full format from Google Play, the experience of using the terminals being greatly improved.

A superior Low Power Mode

Android doses

Starting with iOS 9, Apple offers us Low Power Mode, a system designed to substantially reduce the energy consumption of iDevices in order to extend the battery life, but of course it is not as effective as Apple promotes it.

Android N improves the existing system already in Google's platform, specifically the Doze function, which disables many functions of the operating system when the terminal is locked, it now works even when the device is in motion.

Moreover, Google also introduced the Svelte project, which prevents the opening of applications when the status of an Internet connection changes, the end result being lower energy consumption when it is not necessary to use processor resources.

Many people praised Doze in front of Low Power Mode, mainly thanks to the additional functions offered, and now Google is making it even better.

Background updates of the operating system

Android N update

Another major novelty announced by Android is the possibility to update the operating system in the background, and we are not talking about the classic download of the update in the background, as happens in iOS, but about a system similar to that of Chrome OS.

When there is an update, Android N will download it in the background when the terminal is not in use and will create a separate system image, this being loaded when we restart the terminal, everything being done instantly, without any worry for us.

Basically, instead of waiting for the update to be prepared and installed without being able to use the terminal, Android N takes care of this process in the background, and when the terminal is restarted, it makes the change from the old system image to the new one, very simple and easy.

ANDROID N ALSO ADDS SOME IMPORTANT NEW FEATURES TO HELP KEEP USERS SAFER AND MORE SECURE. INSPIRED BY HOW CHROMEBOOKS APPLY UPDATES, WE'RE INTRODUCING SEAMLESS UPDATES, SO THAT NEW ANDROID DEVICES BUILT ON N CAN INSTALL SYSTEM UPDATES IN THE BACKGROUND. THIS MEANS THAT THE NEXT TIME A USER POWERS UP THEIR DEVICE, NEW DEVICES CAN AUTOMATICALLY AND SEAMLESSLY SWITCH INTO THE NEW UPDATED SYSTEM IMAGE.

I told you yesterday that some of the Android N novelties will also be available in iOS, and 3 of the ones presented here will surely arrive soon.

What do you think about these functions?
