Apple has patented an iPhone that is covered by a giant screen

Just one day after the presentation of iOS 10, a new patent was registered to the Apple company, this time for a new type of iPhone that would certainly fulfill the dreams of many users eager to experience a major change for the iPhone.

More precisely, the Apple company describes an iPhone that has a flexible screen, but also a transparent case, surrounding the terminal so that users can see images from it regardless of which side of the device they are looking at.

The patent in question was filed in 2011 by the Apple company, so it is quite old and has a 30-pin port for the iPhone, instead of Lightning, but it presents a smartphone that could change a lot in the industry .

Basically, Apple describes a method by which it can revolutionize the iPhone, as we know it today, but it is hard to say if it has or will have the necessary technology to be able to offer such a big change for its devices.

A large majority of portable electronic devices have settled into a standard form factor; namely a flat planar form factor with a display on one side and an opaque housing which contains the electrical components covering the rear surface of the device. Unfortunately, this popular form factor leaves the sides and rear surfaces of the device unused or at best configured with buttons and switches with fixed location and functionality. Since many of these buttons and switches have fixed functionality they cannot always be incorporated into third party applications. Therefore, there is a need for an improved form factor for portable electronic devices which allows functionality to extend to more than one surface of the device.
