Google is revolutionizing virtual reality

Company Google he is currently working on a project intended to revolutionize it virtual reality, more precisely, the Mountain View company plans to combine this technology with augmented reality in a special helmet that it would eventually sell to users around the world, but probably not very soon.

Google it no longer wants to develop a competitor for the Oculus Rift, but it intends to launch a virtual reality headset that offers much more than that, a combination of augmented and virtual reality that will give the company a serious advantage in the future against many competitors.

According to some inside sources Google, the new headset for virtual and augmented reality is going to work independently of a mobile phone or a computer, so users will be able to benefit from the functionality without needing a third-party device connected to the gadget, which is the ultimate goal of many companies.

Google's headset has a built-in screen, but it would work in a similar way to Microsoft's HoLoLens, i.e. it will project a virtual interface in front of the user, using augmented reality, and offer a variety of functions through through it, they can be controlled by gestures.

Although those at Google develop virtual reality projects including for the Android platform, its main objective is to make a gadget that works independently of others and allows users to experience virtual reality anywhere and anytime, in the simplest way possible possibly.

Sources said the headset currently in development will not require a computer or phone to power it. While it does have a screen, it will offer features more in line with augmented reality systems than existing VR headsets, which are currently focused on gaming. There is no release date in sight for the headset, but it remains an important part of Google's future plans.

Current virtual reality systems require very powerful computers to operate, and this is one of the main problems that prevent their widespread adoption, the rather high initial price implying additional costs with the purchase of powerful computer components.

At the moment, those from Google have hundreds of employees working on various virtual reality projects, they will be available both for smartphone or tablet users, as well as for those who want an experience as simple as possible and without the need to use third-party terminals, but no one knows when the next revolutionary gadget will be released.
