Netflix allows movies and series to be played offline

Netflix will allow you to download movies and series for offline viewing on iPhone, iPad or Android terminals starting today.

After years and years of requests from clients, here it is Netflix finally made the decision to allow offline multimedia content playback for its users. Basically, Netflix allows you to download the content we want to watch and play it offline, so we will be able to see this content even when we don't have an internet connection.

The new function is launched today for iOS and Android users, a download button will be visible in the application interface for any kind of multimedia content. After downloading, the files will be able to be played anywhere and anytime, even if our terminals do not have an active Internet connection to do the streaming at the time.

Of course, Netflix could not offer this system for all its content, so only some movies and series will be able to be downloaded for playback, but for now the list is not known. If you were to ask me, I would say that only the less popular ones will benefit from this change, so don't expect to download any kind of popular content.

Netflix's change of strategy comes amid Amazon's desire to expand internationally, so there will be more competition. Amazon Prime has been allowing content to be downloaded for viewing for some time, so Netflix needed to do the same to remain a strong competitor to Amazon.

"Many of your favorite streaming series and movies are already available for download, with more on the way, so there is plenty of content available for those times when you are offline. For example, Orange is The New Black, Narcos and The Crown are available for download today."
