WhatsApp video streaming has been launched on Android

Yesterday WhatsApp launched a new extremely important function for the Android platform, which allows users to substantially reduce the space occupied by movies in their own terminals. More precisely, starting yesterday, Android users can see the video clips sent by their friends without actually downloading them to their own devices for playback.

If until now the WhatsApp application automatically downloads video clips to the terminals to allow us to see them, now we can stream video directly from the application. More precisely, the video clip is loaded like any other on the Internet, without being saved in our terminals for playback, as is perfectly normal.

The function of automatic download of video clips must be disabled from the settings menu of the WhatsApp application for this system to work. After you disable that option from the menu Settings > Mobile data and storage usage > Videos > Never, you will only stream video for movies received from friends.

Those from Facebook have this system integrated in the rest of the applications they offer for various platforms they own, WhatsApp being the last one in which this system has not been integrated for now. With this change, users will save space in their terminals if they receive many videos from friends, so we are talking about an extremely good change.

"With the new video stream feature, users can simply stream the video shared by users on WhatsApp and they don't need to download it in their smartphone to actually view it. The video will still get downloaded on to the smartphone while being streamed, however, if you disable the auto download option from the settings, you can simply stream the videos and your storage space won't get affected."
