Greenpeace praises Apple for protecting the environment

For the third consecutive year, those from Greenpeace praise the initiatives of the Apple company and the way it has changed its business to protect the environment. Apple has been fighting for some time to convince more and more people to protect the world they live in, and almost all of its stores and buildings use renewable energy.

Apple was once again declared the most environmentally friendly company, with Greenpeace stating that 83% of all electricity used by Apple is renewable. Only 4% comes from natural gas burning sources, 5% from coal burning and another 5% from nuclear power plants.

Apple is also praised for the transparent way in which it provides data on the use of electricity, for the policy it has, for the efficiency in the use of electricity and the way it procures it. Those from Greenpeace believe that Apple should do more to support the protection of the planet, but they are doing quite well even now.

Apart from Apple, those from Google and Facebook also use renewable energy in large quantities, but the use of alternative resources is greater than in the case of Apple. Google is doing very well in supporting causes, but it is not too transparent with the declaration of energy sources, and so Apple is once again Greenpeace's favorite.

"Apple retains its leadership spot for the third year in a row among platform operators. Both Apple and Google continue to lead the sector in matching their growth with an equivalent or larger supply of renewable energy, and both companies continue to use their influence to push governments as well as their utility and IT sector vendors to increase access to renewable energy for their operations."
