iPhone 8 – a new Touch ID and facial recognition

iPhone 8 will have a new type of Touch ID, but also a facial recognition system implemented by Apple to secure data.

iPhone 8 is going to benefit from two major innovations on the biometric security side, Apple intending to implement a new Touch ID, but also a facial recognition system. These changes will be made by the Apple company so that the iPhone 8 can have a screen that covers almost the entire front panel, as many users have wanted for years and years.

In this idea, the old capacitive Touch ID used in the iPhone 7 will be transformed into one based on an optical fingerprint reader, placed under the screen of the iPhone 8. Optical sensors for reading fingerprints are currently in the development process, so what it could offer Apple's iPhone 8 could be in beta version, but also extremely difficult to produce.

If the optical sensors will not be secure enough to be implemented in the iPhone 8, then there is a chance that Apple will keep the capacitive sensor in some form. The iPhone 8 screen could have a special portion where the Home button with the capacitive sensor will remain available for use, but for now clear details are not known.

Regarding facial recognition in the iPhone 8, it seems that Apple does not want to offer an iris scanner, but a complex face recognition system. Apple implements this facial recognition system in the iPhone 8 so that in the end it can give up Touch ID completely, when the system will be mature enough.

A series of sensors will be used in iPhone 8 to enable facial recognition, and it will work in tandem with Touch ID, at least for the first year. Apple has not implemented facial recognition in any of its own products, so the integration in the iPhone 8 leaves many question marks regarding functionality and possible availability.

What is not being said about the iPhone 8 today suggests that Apple would like to offer major changes to its smartphone series. Of course, no one knows how real this information is and if we will really see in iPhone 8 a new type of Touch ID and a facial recognition system, so we have to wait for Apple's announcements.
