"The Wi-Fi call service from Orange, now also available for iPhone

Bucharest, January 30, 2017. Orange continues to provide its customers with technologies for the first time in Romania, offering the Wi-Fi call service for Apple smartphones in tests. To complete the best-in-class network experience, the call provides users with unparalleled voice services inside buildings.

After, at the end of 2015, Orange launched the service in tests for a limited range of smartphones, now also customers using iPhone terminals have the opportunity to enjoy access to voice services even when they have no network signal on the phone. Thus, the service can be used from today with iPhone 5c, Iphone 5s, iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

The Wi-Fi call service, available both with the subscription and with the PrePay card, allows calling any phone number via Wi-Fi networks, even in places that are not in the mobile network coverage area. It's simple to use, with no need to download a dedicated app or create an account, being integrated and available natively on compatible phones.

To use the service on iPhone smartphones, it is no longer necessary to send an SMS to the short number 232. It is enough to access the Settings – Phone – Wi-Fi Call menu and activate the Wi-Fi Call service once. The user must agree to the terms and conditions of use of the Wi-Fi Call service at the time of activation.

The service preserves the identity of the caller and offers flawless HD sound quality along with an instant call connection with a connection time of no more than two seconds. Thus, the experience that Wi-Fi calling offers to customers is similar to the one they enjoy using the mobile network. In addition, if the Wi-Fi connection is replaced by the 4G mobile connection, the call continues through the 4G call service without interruption.

The service is currently available at no additional cost to all Orange customers, and can now also be activated on compatible iPhone terminals with software versions starting from 10.2 and Carrier Bundle versions starting from 27.1. Both Wi-Fi and 4G calls use the minutes available in the subscription, and after they are used up they are charged at the standard price.”
