Here are how many iPhones would be active globally

Apple has sold over 1 billion iPhone terminals worldwide to date, almost half of them in the last two years alone. With such high sales, some of you are probably wondering how many iPhone terminals are currently active around the world, and an estimate shows us a very interesting figure.

More precisely, globally there are currently 691 million active iPhone terminals, i.e. more than two thirds of the total number of active iDevices. The number is very high for the Apple company, especially since we are talking about a single manufacturer that sells expensive smartphones, and that says a lot about their popularity.

The number of active iPhone terminals globally should increase by approximately 100 million during 2017, and this although it is estimated that Apple could sell over 200 million units. By 2019, the number could increase by another 50 million and reach approximately 850 million active iPhone terminals globally.

If you look at the graph below, you will notice that since the launch of the iPhone 6, the base of active iPhone terminals globally has doubled. The increase is spectacular, but for the following years no such large increases are announced, despite the fact that the iPhone 8 would bring a set of extremely interesting changes.

"Our analysis indicates that iPhone's installed base will be nearly ~80% larger entering the iPhone 8 cycle than it was entering the strong iPhone 6 cycle."
