Apple makes 4 times more money than Samsung in smartphone sales

For the first time in recent years, the Apple company sold more smartphones than Samsung in a fiscal quarter, early retaking the 1st place in the top global smartphone manufacturers. This victory of the Apple company also comes with an extremely interesting surprise that shows the difference between the two companies.

More precisely, the Romanian analyst Horace Dediu states that although Apple registers an average selling price for the iPhone of 695 dollars per unit, Samsung sells smartphones with an average price of 182 dollars per unit. We are talking about a difference almost 4 times greater in favor of those from Apple, a sign that it sells more expensive smartphones.

Everyone knows that the vast majority of smartphones sold by the Samsung company are cheap, and this calculation confirms this again. Practically, of the more than 70 million smartphones sold by Samsung, an overwhelmingly large proportion is represented by smartphones with prices below 200 dollars.

In the case of Apple, things are completely different, and most of the nearly 80 million smartphones sold in Q4 2016 have prices higher than $700. This difference is normal since Samsung has more cheap models than Apple and sells them at much lower prices in order to convince customers to buy them.

This colossal difference between the two companies is surprising because the average price of Samsung would be lower than that of Android smartphones in general.
