Bucharest, February 8, 2017. Orange announces the expansion of 4G coverage in over 1.300 localities, following the 2016 vote, when Orange 3G and 4G customers chose, through the Orange 4G Fun Kit application, the counties in which the company should prioritize coverage works. Thus, following the concentrated efforts of the last quarter of 2016, the most extensive 4G network in Romania is present in 6.723 localities nationwide. In counties and areas with a high degree of coverage, such as Bucharest and Ilfov, densification works were carried out.

In addition to the localities in the counties voted by customers, Orange has carried out additional coverage expansion works, thus contributing to the improvement of the experience of using 4G services. These network investments provide customers with access to internet services, contributing to the digitization process and better adoption of the latest technologies, resulting in the reduction of the digital divide. Orange currently has the most extensive 4G network in Romania, covering 97% of the urban population and 81% of the country's total population.
In total, in 2016, Orange extended coverage in 2.200 localities, on the main national roads as well as on the highways that connect Bucharest to the coast and the western part of the country. In addition, to provide connectivity on the move, Orange, together with CFR, implemented a pilot project in 2016 through which trips to Constanța and to the mountains benefited from free Wi-Fi at 4G speeds.

"For 20 years, the Orange network has been constantly evolving, and today it connects 1 out of 2 Romanians. Over time, Orange's service standards have been recognized by both customers and international certification bodies, demonstrating our commitment to offer as many customers as possible access to the quality of services brought by the 4G network. Through the investments planned in the next period, we want to meet our customers, and this means connectivity at higher speeds in as many areas as possible, so that our users have, as they have been used to for two decades, access to services of the higher quality" declared Ștefan Slavnicu, Chief Technical Officer in Orange Romania.

For the second consecutive year, the Orange network received customer recognition through the Orange 4G Fun Kit application, with 96% satisfied with 4G services. In addition, in December 2016, the company received, for the third consecutive year, from the independent auditor LCC International, the certification for the best network in Romania, both for mobile internet and voice services, including 4G calls.
