Apple Music has well over 20 million subscribers at the moment, according to senior vice president Eddy Cue, although he refused to give an exact figure. The statement was made in an interview given yesterday, he stated that Apple is not yet satisfied with what it has achieved with Apple Music for its customers.
Moreover, Apple is not satisfied with the number of subscribers collected so far for Apple Music, but the increase is not exponential compared to the figure of 20 million subscribers in December. From September until now, Apple Music has registered a small increase in the number of subscribers and is far behind Spotify, which has 40 million subscribers.
According to Cue, 100 million people subscribe to audio streaming services at the moment, but the number of people who actually listen to music is much higher. In order to attract as many subscribers as possible, the Apple company tries to obtain distribution rights on as many songs as possible, but also tries to sign exclusivities with important artists.
Basically, after more than a year and a half of investments, Apple Music still hasn't reached what Apple wants it to be, so there is still a lot of work to do.
