Laptops with Snapdragon processors appear in winter

The first laptops with ARM processors will be launched in the winter of this year on global markets, and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 could be the chips that will run them. In the video clip below you can see a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip running Windows 10, so we are talking about a computer operating system running on a chip dedicated to mobile terminals.

This is the result of the collaboration between Microsoft and Qualcomm, the two companies wanting to offer their customers cheaper laptops, but also with better autonomy. Laptops with ARM processors will not perform as well as those with Intel processors, but they should be cheaper and have a much better battery life.

Unlike Microsoft's previous attempts, this time we're talking about running the Windows 10 operating system on a smartphone processor. The experience on PCs or laptops with Intel processors should be replicated using ARM processors, and Microsoft will implement an emulator to run desktop applications.

The whole idea is very promising and if it can be fulfilled as promised, it could change the laptop world to a great extent. Of course the first products won't be great and won't offer an excellent experience, but with the second iteration things will change and the idea could be attractive to more people.

From here, the Apple company could have the courage to launch the first Macs with ARM processors, as they have been in testing for a long time, but for now the launch is not scheduled.

"Our Snapdragon 835 is expanding into mobile PC designs running Windows 10, which are scheduled to launch in the fourth calendar quarter this year."
