WhatsApp has integrated a new function for iPhone

WhatsApp has quietly added a new function for the application dedicated to iPhone terminals, which make backups using the Apple company's iCloud system. More precisely, WhatsApp encrypts application backups made using iCloud on iPhone terminals, the function being added to the application in 2016, but only recently revealed by a third company.

This company claims that under certain conditions it can take over those WhatsApp backups via iCloud, but the vast majority of users have nothing to worry about. Those from WhatsApp have confirmed that the application encrypts the backups recorded by users for iCloud, so we are talking about a very good change.

However, retrieving these WhatsApp backups from iCloud is only possible if hackers gain access to the SIM card used to create the account in the application. This situation occurs extremely rarely, so it is unlikely that any WhatsApp user is in danger of having his iCloud backup stolen by someone.

WhatsApp is one of the applications criticized for not doing enough to protect its users against hacker attacks. WhatsApp has implemented a system of encryption of conversations, criticized by some as useless, but the backups are also encrypted, but probably someone will find a method to break them too.

"When a user backs up their chats through WhatsApp to iCloud, the backup files are sent encrypted."
