iOS 11 – iPhone and iPad on which it will not be installed

iOS 11 will not be able to be installed on iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPad 4 and iPad Mini because they have a 32-bit processor, which will be left without support.

iOS 11 is eagerly awaited by a large number of Apple fans, and on Monday, June 5, Apple will officially present it. On June 5, WWDC 2017 will begin, the opening conference will take place in the evening, and iOS 11 will make its appearance for the first time, the Apple company will reveal some of its novelties.

Although we will not find out all the news of iOS 11, we will still have a first beta version of the operating system available, but it will not work on all iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches. We knew this already a few weeks ago, when iOS 10.3.2 was not initially offered on iDevices with a 32-bit processor, and iOS 11 will also be incompatible with them starting from June.

More specifically, iOS 11 will not be able to be installed on iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPad 4 and iPad Mini, all of these products having 32-bit processors implemented by the Apple company. We are also talking about products that are more than 4 years old, and providing support in iOS 11 for them would not be such a good idea for the Apple company, as you can imagine.

iOS 11 – iPhone and iPad on which it will not be installed

Practically, any product launched by Apple before the iPhone 5S will not be able to run iOS 11, because it has a 32-bit processor, the new operating system will work exclusively on 64-bit ones. It may seem unusual for Apple to impose such a limitation for iOS 11, but this will allow it to solve operational problems, increase security, and performance.

The number of active iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPad 4 and iPad Mini terminals globally at the moment is anyway very small, so iOS 11 will not be unavailable to even that many people. This change will also affect applications, because iOS 11 will not run applications made for terminals with 32-bit processors and not optimized for 64-bit ones.

iOS 11 comes with major changes in terms of compatibility of iDevices and applications, and Apple will announce all the changes on Monday. Also then we will be able to install the first beta version of iOS 11.

WWDC 2017 is the conference where Apple will present iOS 11, macOS 10.13, watchOS 4 and tvOS 11, the first beta versions to be released then. The opening conference of WWDC 2017 will take place on Monday, June 5, starting at 20:00 and I'm waiting for you on iDevice.ro starting at 19:30 to discuss everything that Apple will announce.
