Apple collaborates with Health Gorilla to turn the iPhone into a medical hub

Apple is collaborating with a startup called Health Gorilla to turn the iPhone into a gadget for gathering medical information. According to information that appeared recently, Apple and Health Gorilla are working together to save information on medical diagnoses, blood tests and much more in the Health application.

The two companies also collaborate with various hospitals for, or centers for medical analyses, so they probably have at their disposal a very varied range of data to analyze. Those from Health Gorilla recently obtained a funding of 5 million dollars to support their activity, they offer doctors an entire medical history of patients, but in digital format.

Apple basically wants to solve the interoperability problems between doctors, hospitals, medical laboratories, medical clinics and patients, so that important medical data is available to everyone. In order to succeed in doing everything, the people at Apple will most likely release a special SDK for iOS, but this must be integrated into the applications for the entire system to be successful.

Apple has made it a mission to turn its products into gadgets that store medical information, or make various medical measurements for customers. In this idea, trying to store all kinds of medical information in the iPhone is not so hard to believe, but it will certainly be very difficult to achieve.

"Sources told us that Apple is attempting to solve this "interoperability" problem by making the patient the center of their own care. The goal is to give iPhone users the tools to review, store and share their own medical information, including lab results, allergy lists and so on. That's a deviation in strategy from Apple's current health efforts, which have focused on aggregating fitness information like the number of steps taken during the day or hours of sleep."
