Facebook launched yesterday a new important function for the Stories system available for several months for the application offered on iPhone, Android and desktop. Facebook launched the Stories function a few months ago to allow iPhone and Android users, and more, to share their daily stories in the form of pictures and videos, it is very popular in Snapchat, but not so loved in Facebook platform.
Facebook still wants to increase its popularity and degree of use, so starting yesterday it extended the functionality of the Stories system to mobile and desktop terminals. More precisely, since yesterday Facebook allows users to publicly display any type of content published through the Stories function, so that not only friends will be able to see the daily stories published by everyone.
Facebook will allow the content of Stories to be viewed publicly in order to increase the number of people who can see the stories, but also who can interact with them. Limiting access to Stories only for our friends, those from Facebook also limited the number of interactions that can be made with that content, so we are talking about a major change that the social network offers for its users.
Facebook - the new feature launched for Stories
Facebook made the change by implementing the option to choose for all our posts in Stories to be publicly visible to all those who follow us. They will see the stories from Stories right in the News Feed when they access Facebook, so not only friends will have this content displayed, as it happened until recently, when the new function began to be distributed globally.
Facebook displays the options to display Stories publicly from the menu to edit the settings for them, there is the public view option for them. After changing the setting there, all the stories published in the last 24 hours through the Stories function will be publicly visible to everyone, so in the Facebook News Feed they will become visible to all those who follow our accounts.
"This is something we rolled out a few weeks ago. The Public setting allows your Followers to see your story, in addition to your Friends."
Facebook took over this Stories function directly from Snapchat, the application that made it popular for users all over the world. Facebook implemented it in WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger before bringing it to the social network, and now it is expanding its functionality to make it even more popular among users around the world.
