Nokia 8 was officially announced last night by the company HMD Global, the new smartphone being thought to compete with iPhone 8 si Samsung Galaxy Note 8 on global markets. Nokia 8 is the first premium Android smartphone that HMD Global launches on the market, the interest being very high, because it offers very good performance at a much lower price than in the case of Apple or Samsung products.
Nokia 8 has a 5.3-inch LCD screen, slightly curved towards the side edges, its resolution being 2560 x 1440 pixels, 550 pixels per inch, as in the case of all premium Android smartphones. The Nokia 8 also offers a very good brightness in direct sunlight, up to 700 nits, so we are talking about a very powerful screen that can seriously compete with those of the iPhone 8 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
The Nokia 8 works on the basis of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chip, identical to the one in the Samsung Galaxy Note 8, which also has 4 GB of integrated RAM. Various performance tests published a few weeks ago confirmed the fact that the Nokia 8 will have better performance than the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or the iPhone 7 Plus, but it remains to be seen what we will see after the first units are delivered.
Nokia 8 - price, launch and technical specifications
The Nokia 8 also has an integrated battery with a capacity of 3090 mAh, slightly larger than the one in the iPhone 7 Plus, but smaller than in Samsung smartphones. Despite this, the battery in the Nokia 8 can be replaced by the user, and since the screen has a smaller diagonal than the competitors, the autonomy should be at least as good, theoretically.
Nokia 8 also has a dual camera consisting of two 13-megapixel image sensors, the first being standard with f/2.0 aperture, the second being monochrome. The Nokia 8 also has a 13-megapixel front camera, HMD Global working with Carl Zeiss for the lenses of this setup, but we are talking about components that do not have such a great quality, so the pictures and videos will probably have a lower quality .
The Nokia 8 also has a sale price set at 600 euros, much lower than that of the iPhone 7 Plus, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 and iPhone 8. If the Nokia 8 will also offer adequate performance, then at half the price of an iPhone 8, many people will look extremely seriously at it and could even choose it over Samsung Galaxy Note 8 or Galaxy S8, but we will see soon.
