iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are sold in versions that have 64 GB and 256 GB of storage space, NAND flash memories from manufacturers such as Samsung and Toshiba, and here is the big difference. The writing and reading speeds differ between the versions with 64 GB and 256 GB of storage space of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, those with smaller storage space having lower performances than those with larger storage space, as happens with the iPhone series 7.
The iPhone 8 with 64 GB of storage space has write speeds of 260 MB/s, while the model with 256 GB of storage space has write speeds of 460 MB/s, the difference being very large. Practically, the iPhone 8 with 256 GB of storage space is over 50% faster in writing information compared to the model with 64 GB of storage space, the writing speeds being so high that the difference of 30-100 MB doesn't even matter anymore between them.
iPhone 8 – poor performance for some models
The iPhone 8 with 64 GB of storage space will write data slower than the model with 256 GB of storage space, and the difference will be felt mainly for editing large evideo files. Even when installing large applications, you will feel a big difference between the various iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus models, but otherwise, there should not be, theoretically, big differences between the phones.
iPhone 8 could also have differences if you watch large movies and copy them between applications, or if you make large data transfers between your phones. Regardless of how we look at the situation, a difference of 200 MB between the write speeds of the iPhone 8 64 GB and 256 GB matters a lot and you need to know what you are getting when you buy the models with less storage space, from the Apple company.
The iPhone 8 with 64 GB of storage space still has fewer blockages in the daily use of iOS 11, and this although it also has a lower writing speed and, to be honest, I did not expect something like that. Having said that, when you pay 150 euros more for a 256 GB model of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, you pay not only for more storage space, but also for much better performance in some tasks.
